100 in 100, Days 77 through 80
Yeah, it's shockingly hot here after the cool southern California breezes of our vacation. Combine that sweaty lethargy with the travel days and it was easy to fall behind on the count. I did these four drawings today so that I'm all caught up.
Tomorrow I will return to oil pastels and the larger format I had started before vacation.

100 in 100, Days 66 through 76
I just got back from California, after ten days with family and without computer. I wanted to get these posted and I'll add text after I decompress!

Presents!
Thank you to a very generous Eschaton reader*, who I will let identify her/himself if s/he wishes, who wandered over to my blog to look at my drawings and decided to send me my first presents from strangers ever from my wishlist! Thank you, thank you!
The girls and I will enjoy watching "The Philadelphia Story,"
for family movie night while we eat popcorn made from our new popper!
Thank you! Thank you! Everyone loves presents!
*If you would like an artwork in trade, please let me know.

100 in 100, Day 62
I'm still getting reacquainted with oil pastels and brushes. I enjoyed this one more than the last, so that's a step in the right direction. I like being able to play with texture.
I have been discussing with an artist friend* on facebook why soft pastels are so much easier for me these days than oil pastels or paints. What I've come to realize is that I like to be able to see all my color choices right in front of me as I draw. That way, I look back and forth between my picture and the colors, and my eye chooses what I need next. Working with oil pastels, I have a similar process, but because I have many fewer colors, I have fewer choices.
Working with paints, though, I'll have to create the colors, as needed, in advance, so it's a very different process. It's much less free and I'm still scared!
*You know who you are. Let me know if you'd like a link.
